LibriVox recording of The Tribulations of a Chinaman in China by Jules Verne. Translated by Virginia Champlin.
Kin-Fo is young, rich, about to get married, but does not care strongly for anything. He suddenly loses his fortune and decides to die, but not before experiencing some strong feelings. He asks his friend Wang to kill him within a certain time, hoping for strong emotions in the process. When Kin-Fo changes his mind, his friend is gone, and Kin-Fo has to chase him around China.
